Indoor smoking is still fairly common in social venues. Law vibe is relatively chill, with bureaucracy that can feel oddly loose rather than heavy.

Auto: Russian local licenses are usually enough if the card is valid, readable; an IDP, translation is still worth carrying for desk friction. Rentals are roughly €20-55/day for i10/Polo, Clio class and more for automatics, SUVs, with coastal summer prices jumping. Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Albania and Kosovo are possible only with written permission and Green Card; coast and border queues are seasonal pain points.

• Mountain North: Cold alpine towns, ski villages, canyons, forests and a slower mountain rhythm. Forests, rivers and alpine lakes with crisp air and strong seasonal contrast. Winters average -4 to 5°C with regular snow and foggy mornings, while summers stay mild around 18–27°C with cooler nights.
