Auto: A Russian license should be paired with an IDP; for Bali and islands, scooter, car rules are enforced unevenly but insurance depends on proper documents. Cars are roughly $25-55/day for Avanza, Brio, Xenia class, while driver-inclusive rentals are very common. Land borders are only relevant in remote Borneo, Timor and not normal rental routes; most travel is island-by-island.

• Outer Islands & Rainforest Belt: Rainforest islands, dive towns, port cities, reefs, volcano roads and scattered routines. Remote rainforest, volcanoes and beaches with heavy humidity and slower-changing seasons. Temperatures remain around 26–34°C year-round with frequent tropical downpours. Far eastern and mountain areas can be wetter, rougher and less predictable.
