Auto: Russian local licenses are commonly accepted, especially if the license has Latin transliteration; an IDP, translation still helps with formal desks. Rentals are roughly $25-60/day for Prius, Fit, Accent class and $60-120+ for Forester, RAV4/Delica mountain cars. Armenia is the easiest cross-border option with permission; Turkey, Azerbaijan, Russia are more restrictive or politically, insurance-sensitive, and mountain border queues vary hard by season.

Zones

• Tbilisi & East: Dry sunny city life, old balconies, artsy cafés, wine valleys and dramatic hills. Dry sunny valleys with hot summers around 28–36°C and chilly winters around 1–10°C. Dusty hills and vineyards surround the region. Strong seasonal swings but lots of sunshine overall.
• Black Sea & Mountains: Wet Black Sea resort coast, subtropical air, old cities and mountain gateways. Wet green forests and alpine mountains with heavy rainfall throughout the year. Summers stay cooler around 18–27°C while winters range from -4 to 8°C with snow in higher elevations.
